Welcome to Seaborne Leadership, where you can find the help and support to improve your leadership skills. You know that your leadership is not tied to position on an organization chart. You want someone to support your leadership development through education, encouragement and experience. Everyone is a leader within his or her sphere of influence.
In his book, Good to Great, author Jim Collins writes, “Good is the enemy of great. And that is one of the key reasons why we have so little that becomes great. We don't have great schools, principally because we have good schools. We don't have great government, principally because we have good government. Few people attain great lives, in large part because it is just so easy to settle for a good life. The vast majority of companies never become great, precisely because the vast majority become quite good -- and that is their main problem.”
You can count on Seaborne Leadership; you and we believe that everyone can achieve the great with the proper resources and services to support that proposition.
The first level of resource and service is fact-finding, facilitating and focusing. If this is your need—ether individually or for a group—you can find the help and support you want right here. If you are a person with referent power (that’s the name for being higher on that organization chart we discussed) and want to find out if your direct reports regard you as a leader, you can get that answer from a survey. If you are the executive director of a not-for-profit and want to know how your board views their role and your role, you can get an answer from a survey for that, too. If you need someone to get your group discussing and developing their vision and/or mission, you can get help facilitating for that. If you need your group to really get down to a plan of work or setting goals, you can get the help you need to focus in those areas.
The second level is speeches, seminars and symposia. If you need someone to deliver a message to any size group, in any setting, you can find the support to do that. This can range from a short, after-dinner talk to fire up the troops, to a half-day seminar around particular topics you choose, to a daylong symposium with real results at the end.
The third level of service is coaching, counseling and consulting. If you need someone to work with you one-on-one or in a group at your schedule around your topics of need, you found the solution. If you need someone to talk with, that solution is available for you, too. If you need someone to spend time with you, watching you and your group interact with recommendations for improvement, you can have that support from us, too.
You do not want tricks and gimmicks to make others think about you differently; you need to go below the surface and discover the hidden issues. To do that, you need good, solid advice that makes you different and get different results. Let us help you achieve the dreams you hold for your leadership.
