I am Wendell Seaborne, Ph. D., of Seaborne Leadership. I am qualified through education and experience to help support your leadership development.
I hold an A.B. in Political Science from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. I followed this with an MBA from the Falls School of Business at Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana. And, finally, I hold a Ph. D. in Organizational Leadership from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Additionally, I am a member of Mensa.
In addition to my education, my work experience has provided me the opportunity to work with teams and as an individual performer. I currently serve Anderson University’s Falls School of Business as an Associate Professor of Finance & Business, following over seven years as an adjunct for the school in their MBA program. My career in industry has been almost 27 years with a major electric and gas utility, Duke Energy and its predecessor companies. During this time, I held progressively more responsible positions; in total 17 jobs in ten locations. I have held positions with referent power and positions where influence was the greater asset, but always used influence over assumed authority.
Additionally, I have served my many communities were I have lived through not-for-profit service with 37 different organizations. I have over 200 years combined service through this venue, with 12 of those years as the presiding officer, an additional 30 as an officer, and over 50 as a board member. Governors in both Kentucky and Indiana recognized my efforts with appointments as a Kentucky Colonel and as a Distinguished Hoosier.
Besides my work-related responsibilities, I have taught adult learners at the university level. I began teaching in Anderson University’s MBA program in January 1999, and continued until accepting an appointment to the faculty. I have taught classes in Financial Management, Global Business, International Trade & Exchange, Managing Change, Management & Marketing in Services, and Business Plan Development (Entrepreneurship). I know how adults learn, and how to prepare material and present it for them to do so.
